Joshua J Cather was born and raised in Lincoln, NE. He began his martial arts training in Tae-Kwon-Do as a present for his thirteenth birthday. He attended Oimei's Tae-Kwon-Do under the instruction of Mr. Andy Oimei (2nd Dan). Cather Pu-SahBumNim excelled at Tae-Kwon-Do earning his 1st Dan black belt.

Cather Pu-SahBumNim began training in Hapkido with Burnett SaJooNim in 1994 and immediately fell in love with the art. Cather Pu-SahBumNim was a dedicated student who would attend every class he was able to. Asside from regular class time he was fortunate to have many opportunities to train privately with Burnett SaJooNim in Hapkido and Tae-Kwon-Do. Cather Pu-SahBumNim was promoted to 2nd Dan black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do by Burnett SaJooNim in November of 1995. In June of 1996 Cather Pu-SahBumNim was promoted to 1st Dan in Hapkido.

Following graduation from high school in June of 1996 Cather Pu-SahBumNim left for Marine Boot Camp in San Diego CA. During his four years in the Marines Cather Pu-SahBumNim did his best to maintain his Hapkido skills and also to keep in contact with Burnett SaJooNim.

After receiving an honorable discharge Cather Pu-SahBumNim returned to Lincoln, NE to continue his Hapkido training, and begin teaching. He began teaching Tae-Kwon-Do for his first instructor Mr. Andy Oimei teaching a kids' class for about a year. Since then he has taught Hapkido privately out of garages, basements and wherever possible. In April of 2006, Shin Koo Hapkido partnered with the Chung Do Kwan Taekwondo Academy. It has been a tremendous opportunity for the instructors and their students.

Mr. Cather was recently promoted to 3rd dan in Hapkido. He keeps in constant contact with his instructor, Mr. Michael Burnett. He trains with several other martial artists on a regular basis such as: Taekwondo 5th Dans Michael Catron and Hilary Strom and their students, 2nd Dan Craig Willeke, 1st Dans Ray Nelson and Brandon Buker from Norfolk Taekwondo Academy. Through his teaching and training he hopes to carry on the traditions and hard training that he has endured.

Currently Mr. Cather works as a software engineer at Kenexa. He has created and maintains 3 martial arts websites including this one (www.norfolktkdacademy.com and www.chungdokwantkd.com).
