Joshua J Cather Pu-SahBumNim was born and raised in Lincoln, NE. He began his martial arts training in Taekwondo as a present for his thirteenth birthday. He attended Oimei's Taekwondo under the instruction of Mr. Andy Oimei (2nd Dan). Mr. Cather excelled at Taekwondo earning his 1st Dan black belt.

Mr. Cather began training in Hapkido with Master Mike Burnett SaJooNim in 1994 and immediately fell in love with the art. Mr. Cather was a dedicated student who would attend every class he was able to. Asside from regular class time he was fortunate to have many opportunities to train privately with Mr. Burnett in Hapkido and Taekwondo. Mr. Cather was promoted to 2nd Dan black belt in Taekwondo by Mr. Burnett in November of 1995. In June of 1996 Mr. Cather was promoted to 1st Dan in Hapkido.

Following graduation from high school in June of 1996 Mr. Cather left for Marine Boot Camp in San Diego CA. During his four years in the Marines Cather Pu-SahBumNim did his best to maintain his Hapkido skills and also to keep in contact with Mr. Burnett.

After receiving an honorable discharge Mr. Cather returned to Lincoln, NE to continue his Hapkido training, and begin teaching. He began teaching Taekwondo for his first instructor Mr. Andy Oimei teaching a kids' class for about a year. Since then he has taught Hapkido privately out of garages, basements and wherever possible. In April of 2006, Shin Koo Hapkido partnered with the Chung Do Kwan Taekwondo Academy. It has been a tremendous opportunity for the instructors and their students.

Mr. Cather was recently promoted to 3rd dan in Hapkido and given the title Pu-SahBumNim. He keeps in constant contact with his instructor, Mr. Michael Burnett. He trains with several other martial artists on a regular basis such as: Taekwondo 5th Dans Michael Catron and Hilary Catron and their students, 2nd Dan Craig Willeke, 1st Dans Ray Nelson and Brandon Buker from Norfolk Taekwondo Academy. Through his teaching and training he hopes to carry on the traditions and hard training that he has endured.

Currently Mr. Cather works as a software engineer at Kenexa. He has created and maintains 4 martial arts websites including this one (www.norfolktkdacademy.com and www.chungdokwantkd.com).
