Due to a lack of Students, a desire to try something new, and some other factors; I am no longer teaching Hapkido full time. Until further notice I will continue to conduct Saturday morning Ground Fighting and Hapkido classes and some limited private classes. I will not be accepting new Hapkido students at this time.

Hangul is the native alphabet of the Korean language. It is scientific in nature. Out of the 24 characters there 14 consonants and 10 vowels.

Words are pieced together in groups of 2 or 3 characters. For instance, the word Han is written like this . The first consonant starts in the upper left side, then a vowel follows to the right of that, if there is another consonant it would go below and between the two. If the word begins with a vowel the is used as a silent character, as in the word Ahn .

Below is the listing of the alphabet and a few Hapkido related words to get a feel for how the alphabet is used. You can also check out the Korean Counting page.
